Emily Moreno recongnized as Best Teaching Assistant in BME 2021

Emily Moreno was selected as the Best Teaching Assistant for the Department of Biomedical Engineering and is one of the recipients of the College of Engineering 2021 Best Teaching Assistant Awards. Emily has TAed for several courses including Biomedical Imaging, Manufacturing Processes and BME Senior Design. Virtual BMEGG Student Research Symposium 2021

The 10th annual (Virtual) BMEGG Student Research Symposium was held on Friday, May 21st.  Dr. Amy Herr, Professor of Bioengineering at UC Berkeley and Chan-Zuckerberg Biohub Investigator, provided the keynote address titled "Advancing Biomedicine Using Microsystems Design". Current graduate students delivered 8 podium presentations and 16 poster presentations. We hosted a panel session with distinguished UC Davis educators on diversity, equity, and inclusion. There was lively discussion among the students and faculty during the virtual poster session.

Abby Niesen selected as Grad Slam Finalist

Abby Niesen, Ph.D. Student in Biomedical Engineering, has been selected as 1 of 10 finalists in the UC Davis Grad Slam competition. Abby's topic is “A Knee’d For Individualized Care & Implant Longevity” and we will be able to see her talk during the Virtual Final Round event on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. via Zoom. Excellence in Graduate Student Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award

Marissa Gionet-Gonzales has been selected to receive the Excellence in Graduate Student Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Award from the College of Engineering at UC Davis. This award recognizes a graduate student who has demonstrated exemplary leadership in promoting equity, diversity and inclusion. Marissa is a fifth-year Ph.D. student in the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Group. Her research focuses on engineering biomaterials to enhance mesenchymal cell regeneration for bone and muscle repair.

Dr. Kristen Lipscomb presents at UC Davis

Alumna Dr. Kristen Lipscomb returns (virtually) to UC Davis on Thursday, February 11, 2021 to share her educational and professional
experiences leading up to her employment at Hayes + Associates. She will also discuss the role of a forensic engineer in litigation, how we
