Faculty researching engineering education work to create an excellent training environment for undergraduates, applying the most effective pedagogical tools to enhance student learning. They have developed a number of successful educational research programs supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, the UC Davis Provost and the University of California Office of the President. Research in education is disseminated through reporting at local and national conferences. A number of our faculty have won teaching awards or have mentored student teams to win design competitions.
