Mechano-biology, cell migration and adhesion, cytoskeleton, cancer

Dr. Yamada is interested in how mammalian cells touch, feel and work together to form multi-cellular tissues and organs. The Yamada Group focuses on the mechanisms by which physical forces regulate protein and cell interactions, and therefore, collective cell behaviors. Since abnormal cell adhesion is common in diseases like cancer, understanding cell adhesion regulation should lead to insights for cancer therapy.
