Bio

Dr. Kim’s research centers on the integration of nanotechnology, cell engineering, and bioimaging to augment and optimize cell-based therapies, including immunotherapy and stem cell therapy. His research group, the Laboratory for Cell Nanoengineering, investigates the augmentation of endogenous functional/therapeutic cells (e.g., stem cells, T cells, NK cells) with foreign and biocompatible nanoparticles. This research is underpinned by the application of non-invasive and real-time imaging system, including ultrasound and photo acoustic imaging, to track and monitor the application and effectiveness of these therapies. The primary objective of his research group is to increase the understanding of these therapeutic mechanisms to improve control over cell therapies, thereby enhancing their efficacy and facilitating their successful translation into clinical practices.
