Bio

Magnetic resonance imaging, simultaneous PET/MRI, biophysical modeling, stroke, Alzheimer's dementia

The Functional Advanced Neuroimaging (FAN) Lab develops advanced, multi-modal imaging tools to understand the vascular and physiological bases of neurological disorders. These techniques include dynamic MRI acquisitions and biophysical modeling to identify "vascular fingerprints" that characterize multiple tissue properties of brain health. The FAN Lab also pursues simultaneous PET/MRI to establish quantitative biomarkers of molecular and physiological function in the brain using both modalities.

Through new MRI and PET imaging technologies, the FAN Lab aims to diagnose cerebrovascular disease and dementia earlier than ever, and select optimal therapies to improve patient quality of life. The lab collaborates intimately with stroke clinicians and neurologists at the UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Research Center to maximize the clinical impact of their imaging methods.

Accepting students per funding availability.
